WALKING IN THE LIGHT
Today's Scripture
“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.’” – John 8:12 (KJV)
In a world often shrouded in shadows, Jesus declares Himself as the radiant light that pierces through the darkness. His words echo across time, inviting us to follow Him and experience the brilliance of His truth, grace, and love.
1. The Darkness We Face
Life can sometimes feel like a dimly lit room. We stumble, unsure of our path, burdened by sin, fear, and doubt. The darkness of our mistakes and brokenness surrounds us, leaving us desperate for illumination.
2. The Light of Christ
But Jesus steps into our darkness. His presence dispels fear, and His truth guides our steps. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, His light floods our hearts, revealing the way forward. We no longer walk aimlessly; we walk with purpose, guided by the One who knows every twist and turn.
3. Reflecting His Light
As followers of our Lord Jesus Christ, we become bearers of His light. Our lives should radiate His love, compassion, and forgiveness. Just as the moon reflects the sun’s brilliance, we reflect the Son’s glory. Our actions, words, and attitudes should draw others toward the source of eternal light.
4. Walking in His Light
To walk in the light means surrendering our darkness to Jesus. It means seeking His wisdom, obeying His commands, and allowing His truth to shape our lives. When we stumble, His grace lifts us up, and when doubts cloud our minds, His Word brings clarity. When sin entangles us, His forgiveness sets us free.
- 1 John 1:5 - 7
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (KJV)
- John 8:12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (KJV)
8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: 9 For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth. (KJV)
Psalm 56:13
For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?. (KJV)
Isaiah 2:5
O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.. (KJV)
6. Today's Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I Thank You for being the light of the world. Help me follow you faithfully, reflecting your love to me and those around me. Illuminate my heart, dispel my fears, and guide me on the path of righteousness. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
