SGTJ DEVOTIONAL

 OVERCOMING OBSTACLES

Today's Scripture

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

In our journey of life, we often encounter obstacles that seem insurmountable. Just as Joshua faced the fortified walls of Jericho, we too face challenges that test our faith and perseverance. However, where we see obstacles, God sees opportunities for growth and demonstration of His power.

Joshua’s story teaches us that obedience to God’s instructions, no matter how unconventional they may seem, leads to victory. The Israelites were instructed to march around the city of Jericho for seven days, and on the seventh day, the walls came tumbling down. This miraculous event was not just a testament to God’s power but also to the faith and obedience of His people.

When you face obstacles, remember that God has already gone before you and prepared the way. Trust in His plan and remain obedient to His word. Here are a few steps to help you overcome obstacles in your life:

1. Pray for Guidance

Seek God’s wisdom and direction in every situation.

2. Trust in His Promises

Remember that God is faithful and His promises are true.

3. Stay Obedient

Follow God’s instructions, even when they don’t make sense to you.

4. Have Faith

Believe that God can turn any situation around for your good. No obstacle is too great when we place our trust in God. Just as He brought down the walls of Jericho, He can bring down the walls in our lives.

5. Scriptures reading

- Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (NIV)

- Isaiah 41:10

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (NIV)

- Psalm 34:17

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. (NIV)

- Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (NIV)

- 1 John 5:4

For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (NIV)

6. Today's Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the assurance that You are with us in every challenge we face. Help us to trust in Your plans and remain obedient to Your word. Strengthen our faith so that we can overcome obstacles and experience the victory You have promised. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
